Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

It’s hard to believe it’s the end of the month already. Spring is flying by and soon the summer months will be upon us. Summer is a busy time of year here at the Bandera Library. Be sure to subscribe to the library’s monthly newsletter to get the information for all the events and programs happening. Or you can follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/banderacountylibrary) or on Instagram (www.instagram.com/banderalibrary) for updates.
Thursday, April 28, at 3:30 p.m., is the monthly meeting of our Bandera County Gardeners Club. The group meets to talk about everything pertaining to gardening in the area. You can bring your questions or problems and get advice from other local green thumbs. Or share what’s growing in your garden. Join the group in the Downstairs Meeting Room.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 7, for the Friends of the Library’s May Book Fair. The monthly book fair includes new and gently used books, magazines, DVDs, books on CD, games and more. Every item is available by donation and the proceeds supports the Bandera Library. Did you know that the Friends of the Library’s funds have gone towards purchasing 82% of the library’s entire collection? Help them continue this incredible work by stopping by the book fair or you can shop the Book Nook at any time during library operating hours.
Also on May 7 is a Mother’s Day theme program. We will demonstrate how to make wildflower seed paper. The paper is made from 100% recycled materials and can be decorated with seeds or flower petals. The wildflower paper makes for a beautiful, handmade Mother’s Day gift (hint, hint, nudge, nudge). All the supplies are provided by the library, but if you would like to bring your own flower petals for your paper, feel free to do so.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.
