Bandera County Sheriff Deputy Mark Hempstead accepted expired prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs from Cole Henrich, of Lakehills, on April 30, during the semi-annual Drug Take-Back Day. Stationed at the Lakehills Area Library, Hempstead said they cannot accept anything with needles or batteries.
The drugs, when collected, are taken to the DEA in San Antonio, where they are disposed of.
Hempstead has been a deputy in Bandera County for 32 years.
