FLAG DAY is June 14, the anniversary of the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official US flag in 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that established June 14 as Flag Day. It is not an official federal holiday.
LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 150 Ave. J in Lakehills, offers a free community meal, Bread of Life, every Monday on school days, at 5 p.m.
In addition, the church offers a Food Pantry every other week and they will do it again Friday, June 10, 10 a.m. to noon. Call 830-751-2404 for more information or follow on Facebook.
LAKEHILLS FARMERS MARKET will be open again Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located at 101 Center St., off FM 1283, they are seeking more vendors to support our community. FOOD DISTRIBUTION will take place at Lakehills Community Center, 11225 PR 37, Monday, June 13, 10 a.m. to noon, and is open to the public.
PIPE CREEK DANCEHALL MARKET DAYS will host the next event Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p..m. Aloha! The theme is Hawaiian Luau, with live music by Jakob Botello and Ken Bunson, and food trucks. Vendors who would like to participate should text 210-854-6577.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 3 p.m. They serve home cooked meals every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. For $8 a plate, you get an entree, sides and beverage. Desserts are available.

The Post is looking for individuals or organizations who would like to be in their Annual July 4th Parade, to be held on Monday, July 4. The parade starts at 11 a.m., followed by the chicken and sausage barbecue at noon, with live music entertainment at 1 p.m. The profits from this event will go toward the medical bills for the victims of the Uvalde shooting. LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY has a new artist exhibit to check out. Joy Fisher Hein is an award winning artist, painter, sculptor and jewelry designer. She is exhibiting her paintings at the library for the next few weeks and the library welcomes patrons to come and enjoy. Hein is also a Master Gardener and will teach a class on organic gardening at the library, 7200 FM 1283, on Saturday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. The public is welcome to this free class. BANDERA COUNTY TRASH INITIATIVE is seeking volunteers and funds. They are looking into starting the recycle program again. If interested in cleaning up the county, call Bob at 210-413-7264; if interested in recycling, call Henry at 469-445-9873.

On June 6, Medina Lake is at 15.9 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1004.23 feet, which is down 59.97 feet. The Medina Lake County Park has been temporarily closed.
The Medina River has a flow of 0.50 cfs in Bandera, standing 2.95 feet deep at the gage.
