Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Ashley Montes
Bandera Public Library

Summer has officially arrived in Bandera and both the temperature and the library’s events are on the rise. If you follow the library on social media (@banderalibrary) or you are signed up for our monthly newsletter you can keep up to date with Bandera Public Library events and programs.
We are in Week Three of our Summer Reading Program and each week is more fun than the last. Each Tuesday, at 10 a.m., until July 12, children ages 5-12 are welcome to join us for reading activities, arts, crafts and more. If you have not registered your kids yet, be sure to contact the library to do so.
While the Summer Reading Program is going on, our weekly Story Time program will be replaced with a weekly Makerspace Meet Up. Our Makerspace is a designated space for self-directed creative learning. Kids of all ages are encouraged to build and create using the materials at hand. This activity helps foster creative thinking and problem solving skills. The Makerspace Meet Up will be held on Thursdays, at 10:30 a.m. Story Time will return on July 14.
This Summer we are also hosting a Summer Reading Challenge for adults and teens. The Summer Reading Challenge consists of 14 titles from different countries around the world. Whomever reads the most books from the list and turns in their reading guide by Aug. 31, wins a prize. Stop by the library to pick up a reading guide.
On Thursday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m., the library will host the Bandera County Gardeners. They will meet in our Downstairs Meeting Room to discuss gardening in the area. If you love to garden be sure to stop by with all your questions or recent experiences.
Our Watercolor Class is still meeting on Mondays, at 10 a.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room. When the weather is permitting, they may take a field trip to the Bandera City Park and paint under the beautiful cypress trees. The work of regular group members is currently on display in the Artist of the Month Gallery. Stop by and see all the wonderful pieces painted by local artists.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Check out our website at www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.
