Head on out and support the team and see what they can do at their home shoot. The Bandera Gun Club is located on FM 1077.
Bandera Athletic Facilities Improvement Team
The 501c3 non-profit organization will hold their third ever meeting on Sunday, July 24, at 6 p.m., upstairs at Cowgirl Coffee Company on Main Street.
The organization was formed to help improve the athletic facilities in the BISD that are not budgeted or slated for upgrades via fundraising and donations.
The athletic facilities upgrades will benefit the Bulldog sports teams as well as band, cheer, dance and JROTC by reducing injuries and giving the teams the ability to practice all the time on the same surfaces they will by competing on.
If you want to find out more about the team’s mission or want to get involved in making things better for local students, come by and join them.
Bandera ISD Basketball Camp
By Coach Brady Keane
The 2022 Bandera Basketball camp, which featured over 100 participants for the second consecutive year, wrapped up Thursday afternoon at the conclusion of three days of learning, competition and fun on the court.
In the auxiliary gym, coaches led incoming kindergarten through fifth graders through a series of introductory drills and built a fundamental skill set for the future Bulldogs in attendance. Students competed in games of dribble knockout, dribble relay races, shooting knockout and layup competitions in between their station work.
In the competition gym, incoming sixth through ninth grade students opened camp by working through fundamental stations manned by a coaching staff that featured nine Bandera High School graduates and five former or current collegiate basketball players. Students then worked through offensive and defensive schemes and then competed in competitions including X-Out Layups, Moneyball, HotShot, Free throws, 3-pointers and conditioning.
The camp was led by Bandera head boys basketball coach Brady Keane and the camp coaching staff included BHS coaches, Sananda Molina, Jessica Salinas and Charlie Boling.
Former players assisting included Ty Neff (BHS Class of 2015, Colorado Christian University Basketball), Cami Davis (TLU Basketball Class of 2020), Luke Barnett (BHS Class of 2022, McMurry University Football), Ryan Perez (BHS Class of 2022, Arlington Baptist University Basketball), Ryan Zimmel (BHS Class of 2021, Texas A&M University), Avery Ouellette (BHS Class of 2022, Texas A&M — San Antonio), Nicholas Salas (BHS Class of 2016, Iowa Wesleyan / Spalding University Baseball), Kristin Salas (BHS Class of 2020, McMurry University Basketball), Maddie Williamson (Iowa Wesleyan Basketball) and Lukas Jackson (BHS Class of 2021, University of Texas at Austin).
Camp T-shirts, sponsored by Best Western Bandera, Bill Miller Bar-B-Q, Maggio’s Pizza and Mini Mart Convenience Stores, were distributed on the third day of camp.
The coaching staff would like to thank all of the parents who allowed their students to participate at the camp this year. We look forward to seeing everyone in the stands at a game this season, and are excited to host another great camp next summer!
