Hill Country Crisis Council receives $10,000 gift

The Bandera Prophet
To help cover the costs of the invaluable services they provide, the WoodmenLife Bandera chapter donated $10,000 to the Hill Country Crisis Council.
HCCC provides services in five counties, including Bandera. Special advocates assist victims of sexual and physical abuse, and provide shelter to anyone who needs to escape an abusive or violent situation. The children’s advocacy center is a safe place for any child who has witnessed family violence, or disclosed they they are victims of a crime.
Once law enforcement and/or Child Protective Services is involved, trained staff at HCCC may conduct recorded forensic interviews - neutral, non-leading - that may produce usable evidence in criminal cases.
“We try to get as much detail as possible,” Brent Ives, of HCCC, said. “While that interview is happening, we also have staff who are trained to provide advocacy to the non-offending parent or guardian, so they understand what is happening and what will happen moving forward.”
For more on HCCC, go to hillcountrycrisiscouncil.com. Their 24-hour crisis hotline is 830-257-2400. For information, intervention or education, call the shelter at 888-621-0047.
