Celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy this weekend, in the Cowboy Capital of the World. Family-friendly events and live entertainment will take place at the Bandera County courthouse from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, July 23.
Enjoy a chuckwagon breakfast of biscuits and gravy, and fresh-brewed coffee served by Kelly Scott at 9:30 a.m., then take some photos with Bandera County’s friendliest longhorn.
The courthouse lawn will become a cowboy’s playground, replete with a horseshoe pitch, washer pitch, stick horse races, cowboy dress-up, pony rides, arts and crafts, vendors and more.
Scheduled live performances include gunfighters, stories and music throughout the day, including Musicians and Storytellers Lee Haile and Glenn Murray, Front Porch Pickers Cowboy songs with Lew and Danny, trick-roper Will Fitzpatrick and Dr. Bob’s Medicine Show.
Sponsored by the Bandera Business Association, all activities are free.
At the end of the day, the Ridin’ the River Cowboy Fellowship Bulls, Barrels & Breakaway Contest will take place at Mansfield Park. Gates open at 7 p.m. Rodeo begins at 8 p.m.
