Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Ashley Montes
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 4:30 p.m., our Medicare 101 class will meet in our Downstairs Meeting Room. If you are about to age into Medicare or are already receiving benefits, this class can help you navigate the system. If you cannot make it to today’s class, our next Medicare 101 class will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 4:30 p.m. The sizes of the classes are kept small so that our instructor is able to answer everyone’s questions. Contact the library to get more information on how to register for this class.
Starting Thursday, Sept. 8, our Girls Who Code class will begin meeting on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in our Teen Center. Girls Who Code is a nonprofit organization that was created to help close the gender gap in the fields of technology and computer sciences. The group helps young girls age six and up develop an interest in computer science and help them grow their passion so they are able to pursue careers in these fields.
New titles arriving soon at the library include Craig Johnson’s Hell and Back. This is the 18th installment in the Longmire series that inspired Netflix’s series by the same name. What if you woke up lying in the middle of the street in the infamous town of Fort Pratt, Montana, where 30 young Native boys perished in a tragic 1896 boarding school fire? What if every person you encountered in that endless night was dead? What if you were covered in blood and missing a bullet from the gun holstered on your hip? What if there was something out there in the yellowed skies--along with the deceased and the smell of ash and dust--something the Northern Cheyenne refer to as the âEveohtsâe-heâomçese, the Wandering Without, the Stealer of Souls? What if the only way you know who you are is because your name is printed in the leather sweatband of your cowboy hat, and what if it says your name is Walt Longmire-but you don't remember him. In Hell & Back, author Craig Johnson takes the beloved sheriff to the very limits of his sanity to do battle with the most dangerous advisory he's ever faced-himself. Contact the library to learn how to be placed on the reservation list for this and other books coming to the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library.
