The Bandera Blue remained unbeaten with a 30-14 win over the S.A. Kennedy Rockets Thursday night at Bulldog Stadium.
Led by Juan Cabrera and Dylan Peace the Bulldogs scored four touchdowns, two on the ground and two through the air to take over the game in the second half.
Both of Cabrera’s scores were short rushes of six and five yards and Peace found Benton Cloudt and Micah McCreary on passes of 16 and three yards for the two passing scores.
Julian De La Paz had a pick, Cloudt recovered a Kennedy fumble and the Bulldog defense forced numerous turnovers on downs to turn the tide on the Rockets.
Cabrera went 22-142 on the evening and Peace had 139 yards passing in the win.
In addition to Cloudt and McCreary, the Bulldog receiving corp had a decent night led by Ibraham MacNeil three catches for 35 yards, Damien Cadena had a nice catch and run for 52 yards, and Jeffry Thomas had a single reception for 33 yards.

“A team”
We had a hard fought three game battle against Devine on Wednesday after taking the first set, 25-16 but losing the last two sets, 19-25 and 11-15.
Our transitions are improving and we are learning just how fast the game of volleyball is played. It was also our first game with multiple blocks. Sydney Moore was set up perfectly by Samantha “Peanut” Sardo.
Our setters were working hard and giving our hitters some amazing sets. We were working on hitting coverage in practice and how to set up the block and they succeeded in the game. Our girls learned a valuable lesson, when you lose, you learn. We are more determined than ever to practice and improve our game.
Game stats:
Kills: Jessi Battle, 4, Kyra Blake, 3, S. Moore, 3, Presley Greenley,1
Aces: S. Sardo, 6, Battle 4, Blake, 3 Moore, 2, Cerissa Fernandez-1
Blocks: Moore, 2
Assists: S. Sardo, 6, Fernandez, 5
“B” team
The Lady Bulldogs fell short to the Lady Filly’s in a hard fought battle.
A. Prater and K. Lake led in serves with six points each.
D. Schmidt cranked two kills and T. Soward had two assists.
These ladies are working hard in practice to better push for a three touch combination, controlling the ball better on every attempt and communicating with each other. I continue to be proud of each girl as their hearts and love for the game remains each time they step on to the court.
I think these ladies will shine bright come Monday as we take on the Uvalde Lobos.
Seventh grade
“A” team
While we showed a ton of improvement from Week 1, we were unable to catch the win, losing in two with scores of 17-25, and 20-25.
Players of the game were Aiden Kavangh leading in serving, Pyper Benard for great communication and net play, and Kolbie Lawlis who had great hustle.
I'm very proud of all of the Lady Bulldogs and look forward to next week's game.
Cross-Country
After a fair showing at Dilley last week, where we had the eighth grade girls finish third, the seventh grade girls in fourth and the eighth grade boys in fifth, the teams faired well at Bandera City Park Saturday.
This was a big meet with over 10 teams in each middle school division with close to 200 runners on the starting line. Aubrie Moore, Merry Robinson, Ruffin Scartocci, and Wyatt Chesson all placed in the top 20.
As a team, the seventh grade girls placed sixth, the eighth grade girls placed seventh and the eighth grade boys improved to place fourth.
The teams will run at Ingram this coming Saturday.
