Candidate Forum for City of Bandera, sponsored by the League of Women Voters
The League of Women Voters - Hill Country Texas will conduct a Candidate Forum for the candidates for two elections on the ballot in the General Election on Nov. 8. The following candidates have been invited to participate: Cindy Coffey and Rebeca Gibson for Mayor; and Alan Calaway, Jeff Flowers, Toni Kunz and Lynn Palmer for two positions on the City Council. Participation in the League Candidate Forum is voluntary.
Silver Sage located at 803 Buck Creek Drive in Bandera will be the site for the Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. Members of the League of Women Voters volunteer to "staff" the forum: greeting individuals attending at the door, moderating, and screening questions. The League does not do an "open mic" candidate forum. Each individual attending will be offered a blank card and pencil at the door in order to write a question if they choose. The cards are collected by League members and two League members screen the questions.
The Candidate Forum for the General Election will be moderated in two parts: the two candidates for Mayor of Bandera first and then the four candidates for Bandera City Council. Each candidate is allotted two minutes for an opening speech, each candidate will take a turn answering the same question with a one minute limit, the moderator will ask several questions as time allows, and then one minute for each candidate to make a closing statement. One League member is the official time-keeper for the candidate forum and will be seated to be visible to the candidates.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan civic organization and does not endorse or oppose any candidate in an election. The Hill Country Texas League of Women Voters has over forty years of work focused on registering citizens to vote, informing voters on candidates and issues, and encouraging citizens to vote. Five counties are served by this League: Bandera, Blanco, Gillespie, Kendall and Kerr. For information, visit the League website: lwvhillcountrytexas.org or contact: [email protected].
