The Christian Women’s Job Corps of Bandera County is now accepting applications for the next session, a free, 15-week course, which starts Oct. 11.
Classes offered include job skill training, computer course, relationships course, nutrition class, Bible book-study, money management, Cottage Core Industry, parenting course, workshops, mock interviews and journey partners.

The Lakehills United Methodist Church will host its annual Chicken BBQ on Sunday, Oct. 16. Food will be served beginning at 11 a.m., until the food runs out. Dessert donations are needed.
All proceeds will be used to provide Christmas gifts to children in the community.
The American Legion Post 410 will host a Chili Cook-Off, Cornhole Tournament and Margarita Pour-Off on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Chili Cook-Off registration will begin at 7 a.m., and the cook-off ends at noon. Judging will take place from noon to 12:45 p.m., and winners will be announced at 12:45 p.m. Registration is $20 per type.
Cornhole registration is $10 per person, and begins at 1 p.m.
The Margarita Pour-Off will begin at 1:45 p.m.
The American Legion Post 410 is at 147 Legion Drive, in Lakehills.
Post 410 is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 3 p.m. They serve home cooked meals every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. For $8 a plate, you get an entree, sides and beverage. Desserts are available.

The Lakehills Area Library will exhibit Geena Eaton’s knitting and paintings for the rest of this month. Visitors and patrons are invited to enjoy them.
Eaton has been knitting since her children were young, providing many of their clothes. She enjoys creating unique patterns and combining different colors. She started painting in 2017 and is self-taught. She finds both painting and knitting to be relaxing and says they are her loves.
The library also has a food pantry, with fruits and veggies, available during open hours.
The Lakehills Area Library is located at 7200 FM 1283. It is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Early voting is from Oct. 24 to Nov. 4. Election Day is Nov. 8.
