City of Bandera Marshal Will Dietrich has been placed on administrative leave with pay, pending an investigation at City Hall.
City Administrator William Cox said the city initiated the investigation, however he could not go into further detail. He said the case has been sent to the Attorney General’s Office for review.
A council meeting was set for today, but due to inaccurate wording on the agenda, the meeting was cancelled on Monday and posted for Thursday, Oct. 27, allowing for the 72-hour minimum requirement set by the Texas Open Meetings Act, before it was also cancelled.
“After discussion with the mayor, attorney and myself, we felt it was better to wait until after we have the findings of the investigation and allow council to deliberate at that time,” Cox said, adding the city is conscientious about transparency, as well as protecting Dietrich’s confidentiality and privacy.
Cox said at this point there is no timeline as to how long the investigation will take. He said the personnel manual allows a director to be placed on administrative leave for up to 15 days, which can be renewed one time for an additional 15 days.
