Dennis Roy Spurlock
March 23, 1950 ~ October 19, 2022

Dennis Roy Spurlock, 72, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away on Oct. 19, 2022, in Lakehills. He was born in Mount Vernon to Pansie “Pansye” Marie Capps and Clyde Spurlock on March 23, 1950.
He married Virginia Ann Spurlock on June 23, 2005, in San Antonio. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad Company, Orange County Sheriffs Department, Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, Geo-South Texas Detention Complex, and Private Security Officer. He was honorably discharged from the Army and was awarded the following medals. National Defensive Service Medal, Sharpshooter (M-16 Rifle), Marksman (M-14 Rifle), Second Class Gunner (Machine Gun M-60) and Expert (Grenade).
Dennis Roy Spurlock is preceded in death by his brother Reginald Wayne Campbell; nephews Joseph Ray Monsivais and Derek Joost Martinez.
Dennis Roy Spurlock is survived by his spouse Virginia Ann Spurlock; children Clara Joe Garza and spouse Paul Garza, Ricardo C. Garza Jr., and spouse Elizabeth Garza; grandchildren Ella Ann Garza, Harlie Sky Garza, James Vincent Dean Garza, Rynda Ann De La Garza, Jesse Joe Garza; great grandchildren Amani Kairee Martin, Arlo Vincent Crecy Garza, Aminah Zayn Crecy Garza, James Marcial De La Garza, Joisaac Geronimo De La Garza, Derek Michael De La Garza, James De La Garza, Courtney Crecy Garza, Esther Monsivais, Jeannette Banda, Clara Jo Galan, Balvino H. Galan, Clarissa Jo Espinosa, Balvino Camacho “Bubba” Galan Jr., Irene Linda “Rynda” Pena, Pedro “Pete” Pena, Rick Anthony Moreno, Justin Ray Espinosa and spouse Bianca Mercedes Walker, Elliana Espinosa, Jaci Espinosa, Lorelei Espinosa, Martin Espinosa, Jeffery Espinosa, Alanise Espinosa, Adrian Espinosa, Pablo Espinosa, Selena Espinosa, Abbigail Santiago, Audrey Santiago, Ralph Banda, Dominic Banda, Damien Banda, Randy Zadok Leal, Risa Renee Leal, Samira “Sami” Galan, Darian Galan, Aislynn Galan, Stanley Nick Lerma,  Gracie Lerma, Barbara Jean Castillo, Debbie Garcia, Cecilia Murray, William Murray, Jonathan Murray, Sofia Murray and Raymond Garza.
A public visitation was held Friday, Oct. 28. A Celebration of Life followed at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel.
