Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

Whew! What a busy month! On Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m., there will be a Girls Scouts exploratory meeting in the Downstairs Meeting Room. This meeting is intended to gather information for families interested in joining a local Girl Scouts troop. Stop by with questions on how to get your daughter involved.
Please keep in mind, the library will be closed this Friday, Nov. 11, in observation of Veterans’ Day. On behalf of all the library staff and volunteers, thank you to our servicemen and women who have fought to keep this country the home of the free and the land of the brave.
We do have a correction to make regarding the Sew Sweet Quilting Group that meets at the library on Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group has canceled their hiatus and will continue to meet throughout the winter. If you are interested in sewing and quilting, please join in.
Be sure to drop by the library’s booth at the Wharton’s Dock Fall Festival and Family Resource Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19, from noon to 3 p.m. The festival will be held at Walker Community Church, 8135 Whartons Dock Road, and will feature the variety of service resources available to our community. All are welcome.
As the holiday season speeds up and fills up, be sure to add two more events to your calendars in December. On Thursday, Dec. 1, the library will host a holiday open house. Bring the family and enjoy cotton candy, hot chocolate, a piñata and more. Once the sun goes down, we will screen a family movie on the back patio, so bundle up.
Also save the date for Thursday, Dec. 8, for An Evening with An Author. “Which Way Tree” author Elizabeth Crook will be at the library to talk about her novels set in the Texas Hill Country. Please join us for a light reception and music provided by local musicians ahead of the talk. We hope to see you there.
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@Bandera County Library), Instagram (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website.
