Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
On behalf of everyone here at the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library, Happy Thanksgiving! The holiday season is upon us, and it is a time to reflect on the many blessings in our lives. It is also a time to reach out and support our community. This year, the library will have several opportunities to give back. The library has set up a food pantry near the reference section. Please take what you need and give what you can. After the Thanksgiving holiday, the library will be a drop off site for the second annual Coat Drive co-hosted by the Republican Women of Bandera County and the Democratic Women of Bandera County. Please bring new or gently used coats for a neighbor in need. We will also be collecting hats, scarves and gloves.
Please update your settings! The library has recently updated our website address. To get connected to the library’s many online resources go to www.banderalibrary.org. You can find shortcuts to our online catalog, subscribe to our weekly blog, and get a look at the library’s calendar to see the many wonderful things going on at your public library.
As December rolls around the corner keep a few dates marked on your calendar. Thursday, Dec. 1, is the Monthly Book Club’s annual holiday luncheon. Call the library to get details and please bring a wrapped book for a gift exchange. Friday, Dec. 2, is the library’s first holiday open house and movie screening. Bring the family and enjoy fresh popcorn, hot chocolate, a piñata and more. Once the sun goes down, we will be screening Home Alone on the back patio bring your own camp chairs and blankets. Saturday, Dec. 3, is the Monthly Book Fair hosted by the Friends of the Library. We will have hundreds of new and gently used books available by donation. Get all your Christmas presents done in one go. Remember, all the proceeds go to the Friends who fund the library’s collection.
Tuesday, Dec. 6, is the first meeting of the new Bandera Girls Scouts troop. The group will meet at 6 p.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room. Thursday, Dec. 8, will be the library’s 2022 Evening with an Author. “Which Way Tree” author Elizabeth Crook will be here at the library to talk about her novels set in the Texas Hill Country. Please join us for a light reception and music provided by local musicians ahead of the talk. All are welcome!
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
