By Brady Keane

Varsity
The Bandera Bulldogs varsity secured wins over San Antonio Kennedy and Blanco in the final days before enjoying the Thanksgiving Break, defeating the Rockets 48- 35 at home Monday afternoon before taking down the Panthers 53-47 on the road.
Both games featured slow starts from the Bulldogs before dominant second and third quarter efforts propelled the team to victory. Bandera outscored Kennedy 24-9 in the second and third frames on Monday and outscored Blanco 39-15 in the same time frame on Tuesday.
Kayden Brown scored a team-high 14 points in the win over Kennedy while also grabbing six rebounds and contributing three assists. Isaac Segura had nine points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, Eli Salas had eight points, seven rebounds and two assi sts, and Cale Barnett had six points, six rebounds, two assists and two st eals. Hank Pate chipped in six points and was a perfect 2-for-2 behind the 3-point line, Logan Bourgeois had three points and two rebounds and Brys on Holden had two points, four rebounds and three assists.
The win over Kennedy propelled the Bulldogs into their first road game of the season, and Bandera had to endure some adversity in the early going before finding its footing and getting back on track in Blanco.
The Bulldogs trailed 20-6 early in the second quarter before going on a 22-4 run into the halftime break, thanks in large part to the sharpshooting of Brown and Salas.
Brown again led the way with a team-high 17 points and an impressive 15 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Salas had 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Brown a nd Salas combined to hit seven 3-point shots in the win. Alex Dirck contributed a valuable six points and seven rebounds off the bench, Pate had five points and two rebounds, and Cale Barnett had four points, four rebounds and two assists.
Corben Gonzales provided valuable defensive effort off the bench while chipping in three points, Segura had three points and seven rebounds, and Scott Perry finished with two points.
The wins over both opponents marked the second and third consecutive victories for the Bulldogs, who now enter Thanksgiving Break at 3-1 on the season. Bandera will return to action on the road against a talented Class 5A Southwest Legacy team immediately after the break on Monday.
I was really proud of our defensive effort on Monday and equally as proud of our composure on Tuesday. We have a lot of guys who don’t have a ton of varsity experience and they did not panic when facing some adversity and a large deficit in our first road game of the season Tuesday. We’re doing a great job in the second and third quarter right now, but we have to get to the point where we’re playing that way for a full four quar ters as we continue to approach a tough district schedule next month.

JV
The Bandera JV boys basketball team suffered its first loss off the season
in heartbreaking fashion Tuesday morning as Blanco put together a comeback effort in the final minutes that resulted in a 49-46 OT win for the Panthers.
Jace Knowles scored 12 points, Randon Wheeler had 10, Jeffry Thomas had 10 and Layne Bourgeois, Jorge Cabasos and Brayden Franklin had four points each in the loss.
The heartbreaking finish came less than 24 hours after the Bulldogs pick ed up a dominant 67-27 win over San Antonio Kennedy. Jace Knowles had a team-high 17 points in that victory while Jeffry Thomas also finished in double digits with 15.
