Volunteers needed for Christmas parade

By Jessica Nohealapa’ahi

The Thanksgiving feasts have been prepared and put away, and now it’s time to think about Christmas. In one week, the Bandera Cowboy Christmas and parade are scheduled to take place, however not enough people have signed up.
According to Bandera Business Association President Cindy Beckham, volunteers are needed to help with the parade, announce at the courthouse and Bandera General Store during the parade, and provide music after the parade. Beckham said more entries are also needed.
“At this point, we need community engagement for this to happen,” Beckham said. “If not, there won’t be a parade.”
On Dec. 2, the Evening Shopper's Jubilee is set to take place from 4:30-8 p.m., on 11th Street and Main Street; on Dec. 3, the Christmas Parade is set to happen at 11 a.m., followed by the Market Day and Music from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Bandera County courthouse; on Dec. 17, Singing in the Saddle begins at City Park at noon.
The Christmas lights will turn on at the courthouse and City Park tonight, and stay on every night until Jan. 1.
To participate or volunteer for the Dec. 3 parade, please text 210-218-7935 or email cindybeckham.bba@gmail.com.
