Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
Don’t forget this Friday, Dec. 2, is the library’s Holiday open house and movie screening. This is one of the last events of 2022 celebrating the library’s 90th birthday. Join us at 5 p.m. for popcorn and a pinata on the back patio. Bring the kiddos along for a turn in the bouncy house and make sure you bring camp chairs and hot cocoa for a screening of “Home Alone” on the back patio.
The first Wednesday of every month, the library hosts Medicare 101. This class is for anyone who has questions about their benefits and coverage of their Medicare. You can also get tips on how to use utilize your benefits. Meet in the Downstairs Meeting Room at 4:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 8, the library will host author Elizabeth Crook from 6 - 8 p.m. Ms. Crook has written several novels set in the Texas Hill Country. Her most recent novel, titled “The Which Way Tree”, is about a young girl named Samantha whose family is viciously attacked by a panther lurking near the Camp Verde outpost. Now orphans, Samantha and her half-brother Benjamin, resolve to track and kill the beast. Samantha’s determination is set against the perils of the Texas frontier and the terrifying wild cat. Join us for the book signing, light refreshments and live music provided by the library’s Country and Western music group.
Bring your little ones by the library on Thursday, Dec. 15, during Storytime to take a photo with Santa. We will have cookies and a special mailbox that will send letters to Santa’s Workshop in the North Pole.
Starting this week, the library will be a drop off location for the second annual coat drive co-hosted by the Democratic Club and the Republican Women of Bandera County. New and gently used coats will be collected along with hats, gloves, mittens for men, women, and children.
The library’s first every holiday food pantry will be available until the end of the year. We are so grateful for the generosity of our patrons who have donated fresh and canned food. The food pantry is in the audiovisual section of the library by the reference section. If you or someone you know could use some help, please direct them to the library.
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@Bandera County Library), Instagram (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
