Christmas parade canceled

Due to lack of participation and apparent interest, Bandera’s annual Christmas parade has been canceled. Bandera Business Association President Cindy Beckham issued the formal notice of cancellation today.
“It saddens me to no end that only 11 applications were received for the parade and one volunteer spoke up, a 17-year-old young man who is still in school,” Beckham said. “It is impossible for me to organize and execute a parade by myself, so we will not have a parade.”
Other weekend festivities are still set to carry on, including the Evening Shopper’s Jubilee on Friday, Dec. 2, from 4:30-8 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Market Day at the Bandera County courthouse will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Bandera ISD’s WinterFest will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Bandera Middle School, one block off of Main Street. Activities will include ice skating, pictures with Santa, food, holiday shopping at varied vendor booths and a silent auction, live music and entertainment, and a showing of The Polar Express on a big screen at the middle school football field.
