BanderaRecycles receives 143 drop-offs in first month
Contributed
The BanderaRecycles team would like to share the results of the first month of recycling since the county began to restart collections.
Recycling opened Oct. 29 at the central solid waste site in Bandera, next to Mansfield Park. Collections were limited to #1 plastic bottles, aluminum cans and corrugated cardboard and drop-off was limited to Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To avoid contamination of bins, volunteers were trained to receive and screen collections. A total of 143 drop-offs were made in the first month. Customers came from all areas of the county.
BanderaRecycles is a collective effort of the County, Keep Texas Recycling and a group of 23 volunteers in the county.
The plan is to increase the variety of recycled items and expand to other dump sites in the county as the effort continues with greater participation.
