Bandera Library hosts Texas author
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
On Thursday, Dec. 8, the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library hosted well-known Texas author Elizabeth Crook. Crook is the author of numerous novels set in the Texas Hill Country most notably her 2018 novel “The Which Way Tree” about two young orphans who have vowed to avenge the outlaws and the wildcat who have taken their parents.
The evening began at 6 p.m. when the library’s Country Music Group set up in the Bandera Music Hall of Fame. The country quartet provided a mix of classic country songs and holiday music. The musicians meet once a week in the library’s Downstairs Meeting Room and were happy to share their musical skills with the crowd. While the group entertained, event attendees enjoyed locally bottled wine donated by Evelyn and Randy Rostad. Light refreshments were provided by the library.
An engaging Q&A session began in the Artist of the Month Gallery. Ms. Crook answered questions about her writing method and the inspiration of her stories. She shared a possible movie adaptation of her most recent work. Patrons were captivated while she read an excerpt of her book. After a lively discussion, the author signed copies of her books brought by the attendees. The library presented her with a small gift of appreciation. It was an enchanting night celebrating the library’s 90th birthday.
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is located at 515 Main Street, across from the Courthouse. We are open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are lots of ways to stay up-to-date with library happenings. The library’s social media handle is @banderalibrary. You can subscribe to our blog at www.banderalibrary.org.
