Bulldogs corral Warhorses in last home game of non-district
By Brady Keane
Bandera Boys Varsity Head Coach
The Bandera boys basketball team picked up a 55-48 win over Devine Tuesday night to climb back above the .500 mark at 9-8 in the days leading up to the start of District 27-4A play.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Warhorses from the get-go and led by as many as 20 points in the first half before taking a 28-14 lead into the break.
Bandera maintained at least a 15-point lead through most of the second half as well until Devine knoc ked down a few three pointers on consecutive possessions in the final minute to keep things interesting
down the stretch.
It was a strong effort on both sides of the ball for Bandera as Devine was held to single-digits in both the first and second quarters. The Bulldogs allowed just three made shots in the first half with the rest of the Warhorses’ points came from the free throw line.
Offensively, Bandera shared the ball well and finished with 14 assists as nine different players contributed to the Bulldogs scoring led by Kayden Brown’s 13-point effort.
It was nice to be back in front of our home crowd Tuesday night for the first time in almost a month. We continued to play extremely well on the defensive side, and we did a great job offensively outside of the last few minutes of the game. We shared the ball well and made the easy play
offensively, and it paid off.
The varsity Bulldogs, now 9-8 on the season, the JV at 7-3 and the freshmen at 5-5, will host Wimberley to open district play on Tuesday.
