Two Minute Drill

By Amanda Nelson
BISD coaching staff

Eighth grade
“A”
The A team had a strong week of practices preparing their offense and defense for Del Rio. Your Lady Bulldogs had a strong first half with great defense and speed, but were unable to take the win losing by a 21-12 score. The ladies fought through injury, illness, nerves and at times felt painfully defeated. I am still so proud of these girls for continuing to fight through the match with heart, soul and integrity.
Preslee Greenley led scoring with eight points, Autumn Prater led in rebounds with four, Cerissa Fernandez and Abby Sizemore had two each and Samantha “Peanut” Sardo and Jessi Battle recording a steal each.
Sydney Moore had three blocks and Lakota Jackson, Trinity Schniebs and Delilah Schmidt played great defense against the Queens.
Great hustle this week was shown by Rebekah Gomez as she was able to go in and adjust to different positions after we got into foul trouble.
After another well-earned holiday break, I know these girls will be back on the court and ready to get to the grind as we take on Pearsall on Jan. 5.

“B”
Even with Jordan Tucker, Maddie Garza, and Cameryn Plummer playing great on the offensive side of the ball and Yarel Hernandez and Brayley James working hard on defense, the B team lost to Del Rio 26-4.

Seventh grade
“A”

Defensively, Bandera started out really strong holding the Queens to just six points in the first quarter and even though we tallied up 28 rebounds and 13 steals for the night, we lost, 23-17.
We need to take care of the ball once we get the steal, but we are moving in the right direction as we close out the first half of the season and are looking forward to our redemption games to start the new year.
Bandera stats:
Scoring: Zoey Taylor, 8, Pyper Barnard, 6, Tahtiana Simpson, 2, Kolbie Lawlis, 1
Rebounds: Taylor, 10, Simpson, 6, Barnard, 3, Kaylee Fried, 3, Lawlis, 2, Kirstin Pierce, 2, Serenity Fernandez, 1, Kylie Hall, 1
Steals: Barnard, 3, Briley Clark, 2, Lawlis, 2, Taylor, 2, Fried, 2, Pierce, 2

“B”
The B team started off strong in the first half with great collective team defense and multiple steals from Madison Frazee. Led by Emma Rynarzewiski with six points and Mia Ranly with five, the Lady Bulldogs lost, 30-13 The girls played a very competitive game and have a lot to be proud of from their performance from start to finish.
