Tejas Trails owner Chris McWatters has invited Bandera business owners and managers to attend the 20th HOKA Bandera Endurance Trail Run, and promote their companies to racers and spectators. Set for Jan. 6-8 at the Hill Country State Natural Area, the annual run will host amateur and professional runners all weekend.
“Our Bandera trail run is now among the most prestigious ultra trail races in the world,” McWatters said. “It draws runners from all 50 states and about a dozen countries each year. It qualifies top pro runners on to the most coveted race in North America and then onto Chamonix, France. This year the race will be live streamed around the globe. We love showing off the best of Texas and obviously feel like Bandera is the best of the best.”
McWatters said the only exclusion is food vendors, as a food truck will already be on site, however restaurateurs are welcome to promote their businesses. Other retailers are welcome to sell and promote their goods.
The main race hub will be at the Group Lodge on Friday, Jan. 6, from approximately 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, around 6 a.m. to late night, and Sunday, Jan. 8, around 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“No charge for this. We just want our event to help as many local business owners as possible,” McWatters said. “Just reply at [email protected] if you want in or have questions. We will make sure to hold a 10x10 space back for you.”
The 100k stand-alone race on Saturday will have a 24-25 hour cutoff; the 50k and 25k races will start Sunday morning and end Sunday night. Youth will have a one-mile race.
Runners who complete the 100k within 17 hours will qualify to enter a lottery for the Western States Race. The top two finishers in the men’s and women’s races will receive a golden ticket and automatically qualify.
