Bandera High School UIL team brings home the bling

On Saturday, Jan. 7, the BHS UIL Academics, Speech and Debate team traveled to Medina Valley for the UIL invitational and it was a great day for the Bulldogs.

Individual awards went to:
Samuel Bottoms - 1st place Science
Alyssa Brown - 4th place Poetry
Steven Koonce - 1st place Poetry
Savannah Venegas - 1st place Prose
The team of Katelyn Mendez and Elijah Sarazua - 2nd place CX debate
The team of Cassie Steffler and Alyssa Ruch - 1st place CX debate
Katelyn Mendez - top speaker CX debate

Team awards went to:
Computer Science- 3rd overall (Hunter Garrett, Alec Smith, Samuel Bottoms, Sarah Guajardo and Patrick Lasiter)
Speech and Debate - 1st overall (Alyssa Brown, Steven Koonce, Savannah Venegas, Katelyn Mendez, Elijah Sarazua, Cassie Steffler, and Alyssa Ruch)

Congratulations to coaches Stephanie Jones, Ginger Frye and Bryan Koerlin on an outstanding showing at the first spring tournament of 2023.
