Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

¿Hablas espanol? Have you wanted to pick up a new language or maybe brush off your Spanish skills? Join our new twice-weekly Spanish classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 10:30 a.m., in the Texana Room. Each class is by donation to cover the cost of materials.
On Thursday, Jan. 26, we have a representative from AETNA here to answer any questions about Medicaid coverage. He can also get your child registered for CHIP and SNAP. Come by between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to get your questions answered.
Thursday, Jan. 26, is also the return of Family Reading Night. The group meets on Thursdays from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room for dedicated reading and literacy time. At home it is just too easy to let other things get in the way. Bring your little ones who can benefit from focused attention on their reading skills. There are also spelling games and flash cards available to help make literacy fun. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for Family Reading Night give the library a call at 830-796-4213 to get signed up.
Mark your calendars for our next author visit. Local business owner and author Jenny Forks will be here discussing her book “Feet First: Braving it On Faith Alone.” The book tells her story of trauma, fear and redemption. Jenny will be here from 4 - 6 p.m. to tell her story, talk about her decision to write her story in a book and to sign copies of her book.
Do you have an idea for a new program that you would like to host here at the library? Contact our program coordinator by sending an email to programs@banderalibrary.org.
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is located at 515 Main Street, across the street from the courthouse. We are open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok @banderalibrary. You can also stay up-to-date on library happening by subscribing to our monthly newsletter. Contact the library and signed up at 830-796-4213 or you can email us at circulation@banderalibrary.org .
