Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

On Thursday, Feb. 2, the Monthly Book Club will discuss is the Monthly Book Club, discussing Elizabeth Crook’s “The Which Way Tree”. If this name sounds a bit familiar, Ms. Crook was a special guest author here at the library in December. Her novel is set near Camp Verde and is about a young pair of orphans who set out to avenge their parents’ deaths. The group meets the first Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room.
Be sure to pencil in the first Saturday of every month for the Friends of the Library Book Fair. All kinds of new and gently used books will be available by donation. The proceeds of the fair goes to purchasing new titles for the library’s collection. This month’s fair is on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, the library will host local author and entrepreneur Jenny Forks where she will be discussing her book “Feet First: Braving it with Faith Alone”. It is a true story of navigating teen motherhood and its stigmas and coming out on top. Join us for light refreshments as Jenny shares her story and signs copies of her books.
If you didn’t know that Cowboy Mardi Gras is coming up, you must be living under a rock. While you are enjoying all the festivities, stop by the library to get a popcorn and enter your name to our give away. We will be giving away three great books in a drawing. And be sure to take a selfie at the library’s Mardi Gras photo booth. You can tag the library #banderalibrary on your posts. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
This spring the library is hosting a new exercise program in collaboration with ACCOG called BINGOcize! This fun and engaging class will combine BINGO with chair exercises. The class will take place March 6 until May 8, on Mondays and Wednesdays, at 1:30 p.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room. Join the fun by signing up in person or over the phone. The class size is limited to 15 people so register today.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@Bandera County Library), Instagram, TikTok (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
