Lakehills Community Center to host sweet meal for Sweethearts and Superbowl
The Lakehills Community Center will once again offer a home-cooked Valentine’s Day sweet Barbecue lunch on Superbowl Sunday just before Valentine’s Day.
The drive-through serving line will be open starting at 10:30 a.m. and will end at 2 p.m., or when the sweet meal has been sold out. The proceeds from this special event will be used solely for replacement of the BBQ grill and BBQ booth at the center grounds, which is a hotspot of activity during the annual Cajun Festival and other events.
To provide resources, facilities and programs that enrich the quality of life in the Medina Lake area with an emphasis on youth, senior citizens, and other community priorities.
“We are pleased to once offer this great service for Superbowl Sunday and to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Chef Carlos and Tyrone are planning another great BBQ Chicken dinner homemade on the grill with potatoes au gratin, southern green beans, a cheddar biscuit, and homemade dessert. What started as pandemic drive- through has become a popular way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and coincidentally it’s great for this year’s Superbowl Sunday as well,” BBQ Organizer Barbara Engel said.
“For decades the BBQ booth has served us well, but it must now be replaced. We have been raising funds for several years and this is our final fundraising effort for this project. The barbecue booth should be completed in a new location in time for the Medina Lake Cajun Festival to be held on Sept. 23. The Cajun Festival is the largest single fundraiser sustaining the Community Center facilities, grounds, and programs,” Kelly Beedle, Lakehills Community Center president, said.
