Bandera Decathlon places first, second overall; set for State competition

The Bandera Decathlon team competed at Regional competition last weekend in Corpus Christi against 10 other schools in their category.  
The team placed second overall and first in the super quiz competition. They will advance to state competition in February.
Medals were awarded to the top students by category. Gold for first, silver for second and bronze for third place.
Individual medals were earned by the following individuals:
ART: Emily Ramos – Silver, Lilli Whidden – Bronze
ECONOMICS: Cassandra Steffler – Silver, Laurel Morsi – Bronze
ESSAY: Cassandra Steffler – Gold with a perfect score, Lilli Whidden – Gold
INTERVIEW: Laurel Morsi – Silver, Megan Mize – Gold
LITERATURE: Emily Ramos – Bronze, Cassandra Steffler- Bronze, Laurel Morsi – Silver, William “Ozzie” Knowles- Gold
MATH: Lilli Whidden – Bronze, Megan Mize – Silver
MUSIC: Lilli Whidden – Bronze, Cassandra Steffler – Bronze, Marco Reyes – Silver,  Megan Mize – Silver, William “Ozzie” Knowles – Gold
SCIENCE: Brooke Bankston – Bronze, Cassandra Steffler-Bronze, Emily Ramos – Silver,  Lilli Whidden – Gold, William “Ozzie” Knowles – Gold
SOCIAL SCIENCE: Laurel Morsi – Bronze, Emily Ramos – Bronze, William “Ozzie” Knowles – Silver, Cassandra Steffler – Gold
SPEECH: Cassandra Steffler- Bronze, Marco Reyes – Bronze, Lilli Whidden – Gold

Overall top scorers are awarded to the three highest scoring students of the competition. Three of our students received overall recognition: Lilli Whidden – Bronze, Cassandra Steffler – Bronze, William “Ozzie” Knowles – Silver.
Bandera will compete at State during the last weekend of February in San Antonio.
