Bulldogs fall to Wolves, 60-53 in penultimate district game
Playoff position looming as one game left in district

The Friday night matchup between Bandera and Davenport would partially decide the third and fourth seeds for the upcoming playoffs as both teams were tied at 7-3 in district coming into the contest.
A slow first quarter by Bandera would prove to be problematic for the Bulldogs and a heroic comeback attempt fell just short as Davenport would take a 60-53 decision in the second meeting between the two teams.
Davenport opened up a nine point margin, 13-4 in the first and extended that to a 13 point lead going into the locker room at the half, 30-17. Bandera would outscore Davenport in the last two quarters and the Bulldogs would get to within three points, 56-53, with just 18 seconds left in the game, before the Wolves would ice the game at the stripe in the waning seconds.
Bandera’s Kayden Brown and Eli Salas scored 14 each in the loss and Noah Barnett had six boards to lead the Bulldogs effort.
“It took us a really long time to wake up, but we finally started playing the way we arecapable of in the second half. Our guys never quit, and they’ve demonstrated that time and time again this year. It would have been nice to get that second win over Davenport, but we were able to take a lot of good fro m it and saw a lot of things we can fix heading into the postseason as well. We’re looking forward to another tune up against the sixth-ranked Boerne Grayhounds and we  are extremely excited to be competing in the playoffs for the second strai ght year," coach Brady Keane said.
With the loss, Bandera falls to 7-4 in district and will have to wait for the outcome of the Davenport at Wimberley game Tuesday night.
Bandera will be rooting for a Wimberley win as that would make the Bulldogs the third seed in District 27-4A and they would face either Cuero or YMLA from District 28. Both are currently tied at 9-2 and will face each other Tuesday evening in San Antonio. Cuero took a 49-46 win in the two teams first meeting.
If the Wolves win, Bandera will be the four seed and will have to play La Vernia, the first seed in District 28 next Monday or Tuesday evening.

Bandera stats:
Scoring:
Brown, 14, Salas, 14, Barnett, 9, Gavin Ortiz, 8, Alex Dirck, 5, Bryson Holden, 2, Corben Gonzales, 1
Rebounds: Barnett, 6, Ortiz, 5, Dirck, 4, Brown, 2, Salas, 2
