Bandera’s Lady Bulldogs hosted Floresville in a scrimmage at Lady Bulldog Field Friday night and went 1 – 1 on the evening.
The JV won a scoring battle in an 8-5 decision and the varsity lost 11-2.
Coach Keith Kuenzel was happy with some good individual efforts but the lost also highlighted what the team needs to work on before hosting Hondo at home for the season opener Tuesday night.

Boys Basketball
The Bulldogs hit the road to Pearsall to close the season last Monday. Both eighth grade squads won and the seventh grade teams suffered losses.
Eighth grade
“A”
The “A” team was looking for a win to close out the season and when it was all over and done with, the Bulldogs took a 41-28 win over the Mavericks.
After a back and forth first half, Bandera took an 18-17 lead to the locker room at the break.
A slow third quarter saw Bandera in single digit scoring, ringing up just five points before erupting for a solid 18 point fourth to take the contest, 41-28.
Cooper Franklin led the charge with 17 points and Dalton Parks added 12 while nabbing five boards.

Jaymin Klein scored six of Bandera’s nine first half points as the Bulldogs took a 9-7 lead at the break.
Klein added another six in the second half and the defensive trio of Brody Culak, Remi Galloway and Nathan Sinclair helped hold the Mavs to just six points for the last two quarters on the way to a 16-13 Bulldog victory.
Coaches were happy with the continued growth from the team as the season came to a close.

The Bandera “A” team suffered a season ending 50-9 loss in Pearsall Thursday as the Mavs went on a 17-0 scoring run in the first quarter.
Bandera managed to get on the board in the second with a Malachy King three pointer and Micah Toomire added a short jumpshot to make it 25-5 at the half.
Pearsall added another 25 in the last half while holding Bandera’s Mack Pate and King to just two points each for the half.
“B”
The “B” team didn’t fare well against Pearsall, suffering a 32-4 loss to end the season.
For many of the players, this was their first season for organized basketball and even with the loss, the coaching staff was impressed with the great improvement in fundamentals and grit shown as the season progressed.
