Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
Hello March! The Texas mountain laurel is blooming and the Texas redbud is budding. Be sure a visit to the library is on your list of things to enjoy while the weather is so beautiful. This Saturday, March 4, is the monthly book fair hosted by the Friends of the Library. Hundreds of great books, DVDs, audiobooks and more are available by donation.
March is a big month for us. We will be celebrating Texas History Month all month long. Come by to check out our featured titles display with the library’s newest additions to the Texana collection. We will also be hosting some of the Frontier Times Museum’s Texas History Traveling Trunks. Each trunk is filled with fascinating objects from the museum’s collection. Come by to look a trunk on Native Americans of Texas, Pioneer and Ranching Traditions, The Civil War in Texas and Immigration to Texas. Our thanks to Frontier Times Museum Director Rebecca Norton for helping to bring together this important history of our great state.
The entire month of March we will also be participating in Murder Mystery Month. Have you heard that a crime has taken place at the library? We need your help to find the murderer and solve this case! Check out the library’s Facebook page each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday for a clue. The patron who solves the mystery and correctly identifies the murderer will receive a gift card to a Bandera business of their choice at the end of the month. Stay tuned for all the clues and submit your guess to [email protected].
Mark Saturday, March 18, down on your calendar for a fresh produce giveaway. Stop by the library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., so you can pick up some healthy food. We have a new program this month on Friday, March 24. Join us on the back patio at 10:15 a.m. for Yoga with Care. Bring your own mat ready to stretch and bliss out. Light brunch refreshments will be served afterwards.
Wednesday, March 22, we have a program for kids and tweens. “Don’t Mess with Bandera” is hosting a recycling kids craft fair. Bring kids up to age 12 to learn how to repurpose materials that cannot be recycled and make them into cool crafts.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@Bandera County Library), Instagram, TikTok (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
