On Monday, March 6, Bandera ISD graduate Tatiana Herrera Treviño escorted Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley onboard the USS Roosevelt during his visit to Naval Station Rota.
Herrera Treviño, an Information System Technician Second Class stationed in Rota, Spain, graduated in 2019 from Bandera High School.
“The general asked her where she was from and of course she said a little town outside of San Antonio that no one has heard of. He said, ‘What town?’ She said Bandera. He said, ‘Oh the Hill Country, I’ve been there before I was stationed in Fort Hood, nice town,’” Herrera Treviño’s mother Patti said, adding throughout the day, Milley called her daughter “Bandera.” “Im so so proud of this little girl of mine. What a huge honor for her.”
In 2022, Herrera Treviño re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy for another four years.
