Bandera Bulldogs JV Baseball
On Monday, March 27, the Bulldogs matched up against the Boerne Greyhounds. Brady Trussell started on the mound for the Bulldogs, getting two quick outs on a caught foul and fly ball to third baseman Kenai Jerome.
Unfortunately, an error hurt the Bulldogs and Boerne jumped out to an early 5 to 0 lead. The Bulldogs battled at the plate, drawing a few walks and putting the ball in play, but could not get anything going to get any runs in.
Jerome, Brayden Franklin and Payson Mangold came in to help slow down the Greyhounds’ advance. The Bulldogs showed good effort on defense with plays made by Hayden Winters, Michael Garcia, Braidyn Lynch and Beto Rodrigues.
The Bulldogs put up a fight, ending the game in the fifth inning with a loss, the final score 12 to 0.
On Monday, March 20, the JV baseball team took on the Canyon Lake Hawks, to close out the first round of district play.
Payson Mangold took the mound first for the Bulldogs. Canyon Lake jumped out to a 3-three run lead in the first inning capitalizing on a few mistakes. The Hawks added a few more runs but pitching from Brayden Franklin and Kelton Raab slowed them down.
The Bulldogs scored one in the 3rd inning, but in the bottom of the 4th the Bulldogs found a rhythm. Hayden Winters had 2 hits, Mangold and James Bower would both have 1 hit, and the team would collect walks to help put them in the lead 7 to 6.
Unfortunately, the Hawks retook the lead in the 6th inning, scoring off of some errors and eventually rallying a lot more runs. The Bulldogs were not able to make a comeback and lost with a score of 22 to 8.
The Bulldogs will travel to Wimberley on Monday, April 3, to play at 4 p.m., and will host Davenport on April 10 at 6 p.m.
