The 8th annual Ride & Rise Above fundraiser is set for Saturday, April 29. The mission is simple: to help veterans and others suffering from PTSD and depression afford the lifesaving treatment they need.
Ride registration begins a 9 a.m., at the Red Horse Saloon in Bandera. The morning scenic ride to the Cocky Rooster in Comfort, led by DJ Convoy, or the Mystical Riders MC, will begin at 10 a.m., returning at 12:30 p.m. BBQ plates will be for sale at $10 each, with live entertainment by the Lloyd Bonham Band. The live auction will begin around 1 p.m., along with a small silent auction.
The cost to ride is $20 per person, which includes an event shirt while supplies last. All vehicles are welcome. The money raised is donated to local non-profits that provide direct assistance to veterans and others.
This year, donations will be made to the Frontline Healing Foundation, which provides financial aid to veterans and first responders seeking treatment for PTSD at Warriors Heart; We Defy Foundation, which rovides combat veterans coping with military connected disabilities a long-term means to overcome their challenges through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and fitness training; and Reforged, which offers free blacksmithing, a sense of community, and connection with counseling services to veterans and first responders.
Sponsorships are available. All contributions are tax deductible. For more information, contact Scott Kaufmann at 847-942-7543.
