An investigation at Bandera High School regarding a potential campus threat yesterday was deemed unsubstantiated.
Bandera ISD Superintendent Gary Bitzkie released a statement Tuesday night that rumors were circulating about a possible school shooting. The district immediately launched measures to ensure the safety of students and staff, as well as conduct a full inquiry.
On Wednesday, BHS Principal Ken Vogel stated in a press release that “after interviewing students, reviewing text messages, social media posts, snapchat accounts, and parent tips,” the district confirmed the rumored threat was “unsubstantiated.”
Leading the investigation was the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office. Vogel stated eight officers from three agencies were on the high school campus manning posts. Extra law enforcement is on campus today, as well. School breaks for the Easter holiday tomorrow.
“We would like to thank our superintendent and BISD central office staff for helping provide extra secuirty and support throughout the day. It is comforting, to say the least, to see our community come together with such unwavering support for our students and staff. It truly is a blessing to be part of the Bandera community,” Vogel stated.
