The Bandera Prophet
Bandera High School students witnessed first-hand the potential consequences of drinking and driving.
This morning, Bandera County emergency responders, including the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office, Bandera Marshal’s Office, Bandera Fire and Rescue, Bandera County EMS and the Department of Public Safety, responded to a mock accident scene in front of the high school.
A student who volunteered to be the “driver” was transported by ambulance, two other student actors were “fatally injured.”
The Shattered Dreams program was developed by the Bexar County DWI Task Force Advisory Board on Underage Drinking in 1998.
According to MADD.org, minors who start drinking young are seven times more likely to be in an alcohol-related crash, and about a quarter of car crashes with teens involve an underage drinking driver.
