Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

Time’s running out to register you little ones for the Summer Reading Program. You can find the online registration form on our homepage at www.banderalibrary.org or you can stop by the library to pick up a copy. Kids aged 4 to 12 can come each Thursday from June 8 until July 27 for books, games, arts and crafts and a performer. The form even has a spot to note if there will be a week you won’t be in town for the event.
We also have a Summer Reading Program for teens and adults this year. The library has partnered with The Dough Joe who will award readers who meet their reading goals with free pizza. Pick up the reading logs from the library beginning June 1.
Mondays at 4:30 p.m., the Official Pokemon League meets in the downstairs meeting room to play Pokemon The Card Game. Tuesday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m., is the next meetup for the Bandera County Gardeners. The group will meet downstairs for our first seed exchange. Come with seeds and tips for germination.
Wednesday, May 24, is the Don’t Mess With Bandera recycling craft event called “From Trash to Treasures.” These monthly arts and crafts tutorials will show you how to make fun projects using materials that are non-recyclable. The group meets in the Texana Room at 3 p.m. People of all ages are welcome.
Don’t forget the library will be closed on Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day. This holiday is the official kickoff to summer, but most importantly it is a day to honor the sacrifices of those who have laid down their lives in service to our country. Have a wonderful weekend to all of our patrons.
The library is offering its first ever computer skills class on Tuesday, May 30, at 4 p.m. We have several computers available to learn on or you can bring in your laptop to learn directly onto your device. This will be an absolute beginners course, so don’t be embarrassed if you don’t know the difference from a CPU and CP3P0. We are all learning together. Call the library to register for the class as space is limited.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@BanderaLibrary), Instagram, TikTok (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
