On a bright Sunday afternoon, members of Bandera Trail Life Troop TX-9112 joined members of other Trail Life and American Heritage Girls Troops from around the San Antonio area to welcome home 20 veterans of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
These warriors had been a part of Honor Flight San Antonio's Flight #16, which brought these three Korean and 17 Vietnam War Veterans on a trip of a lifetime to Washington D.C.
While on this all-expense-paid trip, the veterans were taken to see the monuments erected in their honor, as well as visit Arlington National Cemetery, the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, the U.S. Navy Museum, and U.S. Army Museum. They were also surprised with the playing of Taps by local Bugler Michelle Murray-Poczobut.
As these warriors flew home a surprise event was coordinated, which included our local Trailmen, to provide them the welcome home many had never recieved.
Trailman John Dion commented that he loves comming to these events and giving a hug and a salute to his heroes. To learn more about getting involved in Trail Life and American Heritage Girls in Bandera Texas you can go online or call 210-439-0552.
