New art exhibit in Lakehills Library
By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet
Martha Orme is pleased to present her colorful acrylic paintings in the Lakehills Area Library for the next month.
Orme hails from Helotes and wanted something to do during the Covid lock down. She was inspired by one of her grandchildren to learn to paint. She discovered YouTube and found lessons on acrylic painting. Although she hasn’t been at it for long her paintings are truly inspirational.
“I have found out you are never too old to learn something new,” she said. “I have enjoyed learning all the different techniques and using my creativity.”
Orme’s works are available for purchase. She can be contacted at 210-269-2444 or mjorme7@gmail.com.
The Lakehills Area Library has begun their Summer Reading Program for the kiddos. The sessions are each Wednesday, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On June 14, the youngsters will make eclipse viewing boxes, which they will need on Oct. 14 this year and April 8 next year. Each week is a different program and it is always fun.
The library garden club will meet June 15 at 11 a.m.
The library book club will meet June 20 at 5:30 p.m.
The library will host the Food Bank on June 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Healthcare Assistance will be offered at the library on June 14, from 10 a.m. to Noon.
The library thanks all three dozen vendors, who came to sell their wares at the Community Garage Sale on June 10. It drew a huge crowd, which filled the building and the parking lot.
For more information, go by the library at 7200 FM 1283 or call them at 830-510-2777. Their hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
