Bandera Natural History Museum shifts gears from classical concert to western wingding
By Jessica Nohealapa’ahi
The Bandera Prophet
Fusing the baroque strum of classical Spanish guitar with the electric shred of classic rock and roll, Georgia musician Gladius has coalesced Paco de Lucía with Eddie Van Halen, Andrés Segovia with Jimi Hendrix. Traveling from his Atlanta home, the formally trained guitarist performed for guests of the Bandera Natural History Museum Saturday evening.
A fundraising event, proceeds from the event go toward the museum, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
Museum officials are now preparing for National Day of the American Cowboy. On Saturday, July 22, festivities will kick off with reknowned Trick Roper Will Fitzpatrick.
Taught by his father Kevin Fitzpatrick, an award-winning roper in the U.S. and abroad, Will began performing when he was a toddler. Taking the traditional Western skills of roping and combining them with a more modern twist, Will has whipped together a fast-paced and interactive experience.
He will perform on the museum grounds at 11 a.m. Afterwards, the Miller Ranch will escort guests on guided horse rides amongst the dinosaurs, from noon to 3 p.m.
