aAuthorities are searching for a suspect who they believe may be involved with the battery of an elderly man, and theft.
On June 24, Mike Barr, 74, of Bandera, was beaten with a baseball bat at his home, and his truck was stolen. Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King said sheriff’s deputies found the truck, which he said was allegedly being driven by Caleb Leutzinger, of Bandera. They engaged in a pursuit, but lost the vehicle in Lake Medina Shores.
“With the lake the way it is, you can cross over to Lakehills pretty easily on the dry bed,” King said.
After following tips that Leutzinger could have been in Holiday Villages in a residence off Old Castroville Road, King said authorities secured a warrant for his arrest. King said while there, investigators collected evidence pertaining to another robbery, but did not find the suspect.
On July 8, after he was released from the hospital, King said Barr passed away. An autopsy performed by Central Texas Autopsy in Lockhart indicated the cause of death was a heart attack.
“They could not link his death to his injuries,” King said.
As of this morning, King said authorities continue to look for Leutzinger. He urges anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
