Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
Last call for our first ever Smoothie Making Party on Friday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. Bring your teens or tweens for them to learn how to make a sweet and delicious (not to mention healthy) snack. This program is a collaboration with the Agrilife Extension Office and will be part of an ongoing series beginning this fall. Follow us on social media and keep tabs on our calendar to keep informed on all the upcoming healthy eating programming.
Saturday, Aug. 5, is our Monthly Book Fair, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., where you can score hundreds of books, audiobooks, DVDS, puzzles and more. Everything is by donation and the proceeds goes to fund the Friends’ Library Collection Development Fund. This Saturday, you will also get the chance to meet local author Mark Coronna who will be here talking about his book “The Tactical Heart: A study of spiritual warfare and the armor of God”. He will be discussing his book and also signing copies so stop by!
Mondays at 4:30 p.m., bring your tweens to the weekly meet up for the official Bandera Pokémon League. The kids play Pokémon the Card Game and discuss their favorite manga or anime. On Tuesday, the Bandera County Garden Club will be meeting at 10 a.m. This month’s topic is aeroponic gardening. Aeroponic gardening is a subset of hydroponic gardening except that it eliminates the need for an alternative soil substance. Club member Darby, who has been gardening this way for years, will be discussing the benefits and pitfalls. Come with a pen and paper ready to take notes for this fascinating style of gardening that can be done indoors.
Wednesday, Aug. 9, is a STEM program for kids called STEM for All. The kids will learn all about LED lights and learn how to build their own circuit. All supplies will be provided by the library. Come by at 4 p.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
