Frontier Times Museum
The Frontier Times Museum is going back to the frontier with famed Buffalo Soldier reenactor Clifton Fifer on Saturday, Aug. 12. Fifer is a cowboy poet, storyteller and "History Coach” who will offer up a fascinating historical presentation of songs, music, stories, and toys of the Old West. The presentation will be from 1 - 2 p.m., and is free with museum admission.
Fifer is known for his true to life reenactment of the life and times of the Buffalo Soldier regiments of the United States Army. The Buffalo Soldiers were the first peacetime all-black regiments in the regular U.S. Army. They were originally members of the 10th Cavalry Regiment of the U.S. Army, formed in 1866 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Fifer notes the Buffalo Soldiers have fought for our country in every major war since the Civil War. Teaching for 33 years for the Kerrville Independent School District, this retired teacher has a way of bringing the Old West to life again. Upon his retirement, he was honored with the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum Outstanding Educator Awards, presented to him by former First Lady, Barbara Bush.
On Saturday, step back into the Old West as Fifer entertains through the music, games and stories of the frontier. The Frontier Times Museum is located at 510 13th Street in Bandera, Texas. For more information, go to www.frontiertimesmuseum.org.
