Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
For one reason or another, Thursday is always so busy around here. We have programs all week long for folks of all ages, and so many of them end up being scheduled on Thursday.
Just check out what we have on deck for Thursday, Aug.17. At 10:30 a.m., we have our weekly Storytime for Preschoolers. Our collaboration with the AgriLife Extension Office continues with a new four-week program for littles called the Learn, Grow, Eat, Go Program. Join us during Storytime beginning Thursday, Aug. 17 until Thursday, Sept. 7, for a fun, educational program teaching kids all about plants, how they grow and how they feed us. At 4 p.m. on Thursday, join the Girls Who Code club in the Teen Center. The club is learning how to code robots! Then at 4:30 p.m., the Teen Anime Night starts in the Downstairs Meeting Room where the group will be screening anime and talking shop about favorite manga. Finally, at 5 p.m. our second macramé class will be meeting in the Texana Room. All day long programming for people of all ages.
The next time you’re in the library, be sure to check out the Artist of the Month Gallery. This month’s exhibit features works by the Watercolor Class that meets here in the library every Monday at 10 a.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room. If you have been painting for years or are looking to pick up a new hobby, come out and join the group. All levels are welcome. The library has limited supplies available, but most people bring their own.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Adult Computer Class on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 4 p.m. We go over basic functions on the computer but can also get any questions you have about how to use your smartphone or eReader. Space is limited so please call the library to register.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
