On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Bandera Marshal’s Office, Bandera County Sheriff’s Office, Bandera County EMS and Bandera Fire and Rescue will join forces to commemorate National Night Out.
National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984, by a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations, and volunteers in an effort to promote community-wide partnership with first responders. It quickly grew to become a celebration beyond just front porch vigils, as neighborhoods began to host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events.
In Texas, National Night Out is celebrated the first Tuesday in October. This year, the event will be held at the Boys & Girls Club, 715 Maple Street. From 5-8 p.m., the community is invited to join their first responders for an evening of music, fun, games, entertainment, rescue demonstrations and more. All activities are free.
