Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country awards grants to Bandera County organizations
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic, the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library, the Boys and Girls Club of Bandera County, the Lakehills Community Center, and the Silver Sage were awarded grants this month from the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
“We are so pleased to be able to continue our ongoing partnership with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country to provide primary health care for uninsured families in Bandera County,” Arthur Nagel Community Clinic Executive Director Chuck Lutke said. “In addition to this generous Community Impact Fund grant for our general operations, Austin Dickson and the entire staff of the Foundation are an invaluable resource for the Nagel Clinic providing professional advice on investments, special events, and donor relations. We truly appreciate this strong vote of confidence in our mission and programs for 2023!”
The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library received a grant for $4,750, which will cover the cost of a full financial audit of the library’s finances.
“As a public library and a recipient of county block grant funds, our stakeholders are our patrons. The library’s patrons are all residents of Bandera County. As such, it behooves us to be certain the library’s funds are being appropriately utilized. Additionally, the library has set a long-term goal to build our financial standing so that should the county be unable to fund us, we could continue to operate without interruption. An audit of the library’s holdings will allow the board of directors to create a fine-tuned financial plan for the future to allow the library to meet this goal as soon as possible,” Bandera Library Director Mauri Guillén Fagan said.
The grants were funded from the Community Foundation’s Community Impact Fund, a competitive grant program where area nonprofits can apply for financial support. Applications are reviewed by the Community Foundation's staff and Board of Trustees. There were 90 proposals from throughout the Community Foundation's 10-county service area, and 46 applicants received funding.
"We're thrilled to be able to support such vital organizations in Bandera. Each of our grantees provides essential services to Bandera residents, and we would not have the quality of life we have without them," Community Foundation CEO Austin Dickson said.
