Author launches tour with local book signings
Local author Mike Lowrie will launch his book tour, featuring “House of De Zavala: The Legacy of the Black Heart Stone,” with two book signings.
On Thursday, Sept. 28, the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library will host Lowrie from 4-6 p.m. Immediately following at the Frontier Times Museum, from 6-8 p.m., Lowrie will sign books and give an author’s talk.
Based on actual events, The Legacy of the Black Heart Stone takes readers on a journey through Texas and Northern Mexico, led by Luis De Zavala, a rookie archeologist and direct descendent of one of the Founding Fathers of the Republic of Texas. In his quest to find and protect valuable historic artifacts, he must stay one step ahead of an angry Mexican drug cartel, law enforcement officers, and his arch-nemesis, an established archeologist with questionable ethics.
Born and raised in Texas, Lowrie grew up in East Texas that included cotton fields and the piney woods of the Nacogdoches area. Now retired and living in Bandera County, he writes books, incorporating his experiences into stories that take place mostly in Texas.
