The cause of a structure fire on Big Rock Drive is still unknown, though authorities stated they do not suspect criminal activity.
At around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, Bandera County firefighters responded to a fire in the Enchanted Springs Subdivision off Bottle Springs Road in Bandera. The fire jumped to Broken Spur Drive, threatening several structures.
At about 4:40 p.m., a second fire caused by a lightning strike was reported at Wharton’s Dock Road and Old Castroville Road; 10 minutes later a pasture fire caused by a lightning strike was reported on Middle Verde Road off FM 1077; and at 5 p.m., a tree was reported on fire at Saddleback Ridge off FM 1077.
By 5:50 p.m., all of the fires were contained, while some units remained at Broken Spur Drive. At least one structure was a total loss. What started that fire is under investigation.
The only injury reported was a cat with burned paws, which was transported for veterinary care, and is expected to recover.
