Texas Master Naturalists present Managing Small Acreage for Livestock or Wildlife Through a Drought
At this month’s Texas Master Naturalist, Hill Country Chapter meeting, Ag Gillespie County Extension Agent Brad Roeder will present Managing Small Acreage for Livestock or Wildlife Through a Drought.
The meeting will be Monday, Sept. 25, in person and virtual. The meeting and Advanced Training session are open to the public.
Roeder was born and raised in Gillespie County on a commercial sheep, goat, cattle, and swine operation. He was very active in both 4-H and FFA, showing all species of livestock, and qualified for three national trips in meats and livestock judging.
After high school, he attended Angelo State University where he was president of the Block and Bridle Club, judged wool & livestock, and assisted with the ASU breeding sheep show team. Roeder went on to receive his Masters at Texas AM University where he coached the wool judging team and reorganized the TAMU Breeding Sheep Show Team.
He is currently working for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Gillespie County as the Ag and Natural Resource agent, and lives on the home place with his wife Tiffany and two kids, Brylie and Brodie.
With the help of their family, they raise show goats, commercial cattle, club lambs and registered dorper sheep. In his spare time, he likes to go hunting for mule deer and run around the ranch with his family.
He serves on the Gillespie County Fair Board, Grandstand Hill District Youth Show Board, Gillespie County Predator Board, Gillespie County Wildlife Management Assoc, Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers and the American Dorper Sheep Breeders Society.
